As we quickly move from GPT-4 to sentient AI, and synthetic life, this interview is appropriate for completeness. The discussion lasts for almost 2.5 hours, which should provide a comprehensive view of where AI was at on it’s evolutionary path. 11 months ago. The Frontier Model Forum has since been introduced. His comment on the quality of Math, “good enough at present” sticks in my mind, as science always seems to overwrite accepted norms in future instances.
It is an important marker, and the future may be written between the lines. The introduction of Q* is a leap forward that would not have been known at this point in time.
The opportunity to bring past, present and future prediction together is core to the creation of ethical standards. Sam will go down in history, though his consciousness may be uploaded to a future AI host – he may be the first influential figure to really have to live with his past self.
